The Power of One

I believe in the power of one

One candle burning brightly

can share its glow to light the flame

of another candle and another

until the darkness of life

is illuminated once more

One voice speaking the truth

can reach one set of ears

where the honesty is processed

into one more voice speaking the truth

One pure heart emits a radiant love

which ricochets from heart

to heart to heart

rebounding around the world

One person can make a difference

The same as one wandering breeze

will rustle the leaves on trees

from sea to sea

One quake deep in the ocean’s center

creates ripples flowing outward

in ever widening circles

touching every shoreline

One sun spills warmth

onto the lives of every person

every creature everything

Truth love and understanding

are boomerangs

Throw them to the winds

and they will always return again

So let your voice

be the wandering breeze

tickling every ear within reach

Let your heart be the quake

deep in the ocean’s core

Send your ripples of love

flowing onto every shore

Let your hand hold your candle

of understanding high enough

that the point of light

will be reflected off waiting eyes

in the farthest reaches of the earth

I believe in the power of one

For one God

created one people

with one purpose

To love each other
